Pully Lug Day
What a whirl wind its been. March already, who would have thought it? Its been a busy week, having made pancakes on Tuesday and hash on Wednesday, now its 'Pully Lug Day'. This tradition dates back hundreds of years and has its roots in the north, probably Cumberland and Westmorland. One of the surviving activities from an area where it rains a lot and people had to find things to do.
I have noticed that the Hot Cross Bun season has started. I do not understand why they are called Hot Cross Buns because they never seem to be hot when you get them and why are they so angry?
Also Lent has started, where giving up something is supposed to make you feel better and you can tell your mates how hard its been to give up the whisky for the duration, but you kept going by drinking an extra bottle of absinthe a week. Or you could be really revolutionary and not wear the hands-free phone and the lanyard, so that Darren in sales can not get hold of you whilst you nip into Costabucks for a Spam Panini and a Frothochinio before you set off down the motorway of hell to deliver a brochure. Or, you could give up wearing a tie for Lent, but that might mean corpo suicide so be careful on that one. I think I have decided to give up giving up something, which should give an angst free lead into spring, and I wish you all a Happy Pully Lug Day.
